Batavia Travel Softball's 14U Red/combined team took a break from training and played indoors at Dekalb vs KV Storm 15U today. Led by Molly Giesen (2-2, 1R, 1BB), Avery Lundblad (2 IP, 0.0 ERA) and Katie Schroeder (1-2, 2 RBI's), the Red Dogs showed early innings mettle by stopping the opponents run scoring opportunities. By holding KV Storm scoreless, this allowed a middle inning rally, led by newcomers Elise Strohm and Eleni Vatianou who set the table for veteran Katie Schroeder's extra base hit in the fifth.
The early inning Defense was especially impressive. "The D is much improved; KV Storms runners were held in check and by getting the lead runner and capitalizing on double-play opportunities, we are seeing the hard work and training produce results. It's really nice seeing the rubber hit the road." said Coach Giesen.
Next up for the travel club is a winter break to rest, reflect and be grateful for the opportunity to compete in the game they love.
