Bulldogs Play Their Most Important Game of the Year at Marklund

September 26, 2018

Players from the 14U and 16U Bulldogs took time out of their fall schedule to give back yesterday, by playing a wiffle ball game with the residents at the Marklund Hyde Center in Geneva.

Elly "Squirrel" Reynolds, Aerin Seemann, Molly "Beebs" Giesen, Syd "Vicious" Schmitz, Katie "Duck" Schroeder, Natalie "Deanmarini" Dean, Avery "Showtime" Lundblad, Olivia Stark and Bre Venditti all came out to have some fun, playing wiffle ball with the extraordinary residents and staff at Marklund.

Marklund is a non-profit residential care facility, with locations in Bloomingdale, Elgin and Geneva that serves infants, children, teens and adults with serious and profound developmental disabilities and special healthcare needs.  At the Hyde Center in Geneva, they have a fantastic wiffle ball stadium where residents can play with volunteer groups.

The weather held off, but the mosquitoes did not, as the Bulldogs and the residents faced off in two teams of 9.  Despite the mosquitoes, everyone had a good time, especially Nick, a rabid Cubs fan, Lauren who was the most excited to play and Jacob, lead off man and ace pitcher.

It was a very rewarding time for the players and parents from the Bulldogs who played in the game and we hope, all of the wonderful people we played with at Marklund had as good a time as we did.
