"Doc" Suess and "Lightning" Shouse Put the Hurt on Winfield in a Breakthrough Win

June 26, 2018

Meghan "Doc" Suess and Gwen "Lightning" Shouse each had 3 hits against the scrapy Winfield Wolverines, accounting for 6 of the Bulldogs 16 hits in a 14-4 breakthrough victory at home.

In two previous contests against the Wolverines, the Bulldogs couldn't find a way to win losing 10-6 and 12-11 earlier in the season, but it was a different story in this game with the Bulldogs scoring 5 runs in each of the first two innings to jump out to a big lead and keep it.

Seven different Bulldogs had RBI's  in the game with Giesen, Reynolds, Randles and Suess each collecting two.  Schmitz, Schoeder and Hampton all had 1 RBI each.  "Renado" Randles lead the team with 3 runs scored and a stolen base.

Pitching duties were evenly split with Avery "Showtime" Lundblad continuing her dominant season notching another win and striking out 6 in a row in the first two innings yielding 0 runs.  Meghan "Doc" Suess came on in middle relief going 3 innings, in her first pitching appearance after returning from several weeks on injured reserve.  Suess gave 3 runs with only 1 of them earned.  Syd "Vicious" Schmitz came in to close out the last two innings striking out 3 and yielding only 1 unearned run.

The Bulldogs played solid defense with a team fielding percentage of .875.  Schroeder, Reynolds and Lundblad led the defense with a combined 18 putouts and 0 errors.
