Despite Late Rally, Bulldogs Come Up Short Against Arch Rival Geneva

June 1, 2018

Batavia's arch rival, the Geneva Foxes jumped out to an early lead scoring 8 runs in a tough first inning marked by 4 errors and 2 walks.  Despite the rough start, the Bulldogs fought back hard with an 11 run 4th inning to close the gap.  Ultimately, our girls came up a little short, with a final of 20-13.

Syd 'Vicious" Schmitz started in the circle and was only responsible for giving up 1 earned run.  Avery "Showtime" Lundblad came in as middle reliever, giving up 0 earned runs and Chloe "Thunder" Tratar was the closer allowing only 1 earned run.  The rest of the Foxes runs were unearned runs on 9 errors.

Despite the loss, Batavia Bulldogs 12U did collect 13 hits in the high-scoring affair.  The 11 run 4th fourth inning was powered by "Beebs" Giesen, "Renado" Randles, "Icepack" Hampton, "Lightning" Shouse, "Showtime" Lundblad, and "Duck" Schroeder who all worked together to produce 9 RBI's.  Lundblad, Tratar and Schroeder lead the team overall with 3, 2 and 2 RBI's respectively.  Schmitz, Tratar, Zagotta and Hampton each scored 2 runs and Tratar lead the team in stolen bases, swiping 3 of Batavia's 11 total steals. Katie Schroeder continued her dream season leading the Bulldogs in hitting going 3 for 4 at the dish.
