Bulldogs Debut New Black Jerseys in Lackluster Home Loss Against Wheaton

May 30, 2018

The 12U team showed off their new black sleeveless jerseys vs. the Wheaton Wildcats at Prairie Lathem park.  Unfortunately, the jerseys ended up being a little sharper than the play on the field, and our Bulldogs lost in a high scoring game to the Wildcats 12-8.

The Bulldogs hit the ball well with 13 hits to the Wildcats 11.  Six players had two hits for the Bulldogs with Isabella "Izzy Pop", Chloe "Thunder" Tratar and Molly "Beebs" Giesen all going 2 for 3 and Elly "Squirrel" Reynolds, Avery "Showtime" Lundblad and Katie "Duck" Schroeder going 2 for 4.  Schroeder and Tratar both had doubles in the game.  Tratar also lead the team with 3 stolen bases.

The Bulldogs had a late game rally to put up three runs in the fifth inning. The offensive onslaught was led by Lundblad, Reynolds and Jonas, all sending runners across the plate with RBIs in the inning.

Avery Lundblad started in the circle for the Bulldogs with Tratar and Shouse also pitching in the game.  The Bulldogs pitchers struggled in the game giving up 11 hits, and 14 walks.  Three errors hurt the Bulldogs, but Haydin "Icepack" Hampton and Bella "Zucchini" Zagota combined for 7 total put outs with 0 errors.  Hampton and Zagota also both had critical double plays at first base to help get the Bulldogs out of 2 bases loaded offensive jams in the 1st  and 5th innings.
